The Jezabels are an internationally recognised, Aria Award-winning, Australian band. Since the band’s inception in 2009, we have been responsible for the creative direction, photography and design of all their releases.

Following the release of three EPs, the band released their Aria Award-winning debut full-length album, Prisoner in 2011. Based on the idea of disrupted freedom, we created a visual language that mirrored the bands powerful, dramatic and expansive music. We commissioned Pierre Toussaint to shoot a series of desolate Australian landscapes on medium format film. The results were a set of minimal images that were then interrupted and ruined – an exploration into the beautiful, bleak and broken.

The band’s second full-length album, The Brink, debuted at No.2 on the ARIA charts. With the exception of subtle typography, the artwork is made up entirely of the work of Polish artist Jarek Puczel. Puczel’s work possesses both dark and abstract qualities, as well as a lightness and romance, making it a perfect visual match for this dynamic and passionate record.

Hailed as a dark and menacing return to form, Synthia was The Jezabels’ third full-length album. Exploring a variety of themes including artificial intelligence, alter egos and duality we partnered once again with photographer Pierre Toussaint to create a series of images that presented not one, but many versions of Synthia. The result is an unsettling and stark documentation of multiple personalities, roles and purposes.

“I have worked with Chris and his team for over ten years across several projects and have been ecstatic with the results every time. From the initial meeting to discuss the tone of the project we were able to leave it in their hands and they, without fail, came back with the perfect visual to accompany the music. Every time. Could not recommend highly enough.” Dave Batty Manager
